Spill-Sorb™ is a natural oil & chemical absorbent made from Canadian sphagnum peat moss. Canadian sphagnum peat moss is renowned for its superior absorption capacity and regarded as the most superior peat moss in the world.
The sphagnum peat moss is carefully dried and heated in a specialised process making it hydrophobic and giving it the remarkable ability to encapsulate oils, hydrocarbons and all other chemicals. It can be used on land or water and in wet or dry conditions. It also has a high vapour suppression capacity and does not require specially trained or high-tech equipment for handling.
Spill-Sorb™ is highly regarded in environmental spill cleanups and remediation processes and widely used in airports, railways, harbours, marinas, fire stations, service stations, oil refineries, drilling rigs, boats etc.
Benefits
Natural, 100% organic
Lab-tested, field proven evidence
Non-abrasive, non-toxic, non-leaching
Low weight realising cost efficiencies for transportation and maximising absorption capacity
Can be bio-remediated, incinerated or disposed in landfills or land farmed with no detrimental effects to the environment
Contributes 8,000 B.T.U.s per pound as an energy source (excluding absorbed hydrocarbons) and burns to a residue of less than 2% of it’s original volume
High vapour suppression capacity eg c.90% vapour suppression of gasoline
Does not require specially trained technicians or high tech equipment for handling or disposing
Applications
Encapsulates oils, solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides and all other organic chemicals on contact
Absorbs hydrocarbons and suppresses vapours on land or water, in dry or wet conditions
Airports, railways, harbours, marinas, fire stations, service stations, oil refineries, drilling rigs, boats etc
Absorbs PCB’s, oil-based paints, inks and dyes, animal fats, vegetable oils and blood
